AWS Public Sector AI Symposium
Last Wednesday saw the AWS Public Sector event of the year: the AWS Public Sector AI Symposium. Thirteen sponsors presented the latest thinking on cloud and AI to public sector officials, and Cloudscaler was among them. Our Head of Alliances, Patrick Godden gives his thoughts on the day.
Throughout the day, he kept coming back to the connections being made, especially around AI. His take on the event was refreshingly upbeat: 'It's amazing what you can do with AI, and you don't have to be technical to do it yourself.' That mindset underpins one of Cloudscaler's core values: personal growth that pushes people beyond what they think they're capable of. Exploring how AI can be used in unique and different ways is, in Patrick's view, one of the most important developments in the technology, and ingenuity is what drives it forward. Cloudscaler's projects reflect this time and again, built on the principle of 'Secure Foundations for Bold Innovation'. Senior Cloud Engineer Robert Clarke backed this up with a concrete example: how Scalpel AI worked with Cloudscaler to build a faster, more precise AI-enabled platform for surgical tray preparation, one that works at scale. Scalpel AI has gone from processing a limited number of surgical trays at a time to three hundred simultaneously. It's a clear illustration of what AI can do in the Public Sector when client ingenuity meets the right technical capability. AWS Alliance Manager Sharona Rollnick told me how this success story 'solidified Cloudscaler's position with AWS and within AI, and our capabilities with AI for the customer'. It captures what Cloudscaler is about: ingenuity paired with integrity, put into practice. Cloudscaler's approach to new use cases is about shifting perspective: putting guardrails and security in place without holding innovation back. Token usage is a source of anxiety for a lot of companies experimenting with AI, but at Cloudscaler it's treated as a variable to be measured and controlled, not feared. With the right foundations in place, token consumption becomes predictable, and the uncertainty disappears.
The AWS Public Sector AI Symposium showed the real value AI can bring to public sector challenges, provided the guardrails and security are in place from the start. From digital twins of hospitals that simulate hazardous scenarios without the risk, to AI reshaping how projects get delivered, the range of use cases on display was wide.
